To get started with our 'Lease or Buy' analyser we need some information about your business.

Business Tax Rate

This is the corporation tax rate paid by your company - if you're not sure of the rate use the sample rate we've put into the box to get you started.

We need this information to calculate the effect of tax relief for your vehicle's finance costs.

VAT Periods

This is duration of your VAT returns, typically monthly (large businesses), quarterly (medium sized businesses) or annually (small businesses).
If you aren't VAT registered select 'Annual' and put '0' in the box for 'VAT recovery rate'.

VAT recovery rate

If you are VAT registered you will probably recover all your input VAT so leave the VAT recovery rate at 20% (the current standard rate of VAT).

If you only get back part of your VAT put in the percentage you recover.

For example, the standard VAT rate is 20%. If you only get back half of your input VAT put in 10% (half of 20%).

Remember to press the 'Enter' key after your entry.

Can you pay in cash?

If you have the funds available to pay cash for vehicles without borrowing then select 'Yes', otherwise choose 'No'.

We may also ask your some relevant additional questions about your business finance depending on your answers.

When you provide this information we don't keep it - it's erased from our systems after you leave our web site.

Getting Started

To begin:

• Choose the number of 'Months' for the finance agreement (also known as the 'term').
  
  
• Select your repayment plan ('Payments').
  Your selection is the number of monthly payments you will make in advance as your 1st payment (e.g. 1, 2, 3, etc, in effect your deposit), plus the remaining number of months for the finance term.
  
  For example, on a 36 month finance agreement, a payment plan of '3 + 35' equates to:
  
  ►   3 payments made in advance for your first payment as one lump sum deposit, plus
  ►   35 further monthly payments.
  
  In total you make the equivalent of 38 monthly payments (3 payments as a deposit + 35 further monthly payments) even though these are made over only 36 months.
  This may seem confusing, but remember one simple point - the more payments you make in advance, the less you pay each month afterwards.
  
  
• Set the 'Total Miles' you expect to travel in the vehicle over your selected term.
  For example, if you expect to travel 10,000 miles each year over a 36 month (3 year) agreement then choose 30,000 total miles (3 years x 10,000 miles per year).
  The annual equivalent mileage will be also displayed automatically for you.

Edit The Monthly Payments

You can edit the content of the monthly payment calculations.

For example, if you expect to pay a different purchase price for the vehicle you can set the purchase price to your own value.

Click on either the 'DETAILS' button or the  button beside any finance method (e.g. contract purchase) and then click on the 'Change' button.

You can then edit individual components of the finance payment calculation.

Just type a new value in any of the available detail boxes and press the 'Enter' key to see the effect on the monthly payment.
